--- The area now known as Chicano Park was occupied for twelve days starting on April 22nd of 1970 when local residents entered the park to stop construction of a parking lot for a new CHP station; the residents occupied until an acceptable solution was reached as they were promised a park there to compensate for the damage that I-5 and the Coronado Bridge caused the community.
