Description
The Balboa Park Club Santa Fe Room is a separately rented space of the Balboa Park Club building, which also includes the
Balboa Park Club Ballroom.
City literature states it can accommodate 120 for meeting. It has a very large blank wall at the end that will work well as a screen and has a powered PA system in the lectern in the room. It has a separate entrance but shares restrooms with any group that may rent the
Balboa Park Club Ballroom, and the atrium with fountain is part of the ballroom rental and not this room.
- Approximate dimensions 30 x 48 = 1440 SQFT
- Theater capacity at 12 sqft per person = 120
- Minimum Rental is 3 hours
- Minumum gap between rentals of differnt group is 2 hours.
- As each meeting is completed, the room should be rented for the same month, one year later. It is required that the permit paperwork is brought in to the park office and it is amended.
Rented Times
This venue has been rented for Citizens Oversight events, esp. Earth Summit Speaker Series, as follows:

Official description
The historic Balboa Park Club building was first constructed for the park's 1915 exposition to house the state of New Mexico's exhibits. It was later remodeled and enlarged for the 1935 exposition. It was during this period that sculptor Frederick Schweigardt and painter Belle Baraceneau created their striking fountain and mural which adorn the building's grand foyer. Rental facilities within the building consists of two areas; the Santa Fe Room, a medium sized banquet/meeting hall to the left of the main entrance, and the Ballroom, featuring approximately 13,000 square feet of unobstructed wood dance floor.
Availability
The following matrix was created on May 15, 2019. The room was deemed not open if it was scheduled for any time between 5-10pm. It is marked as open if it was either completely unused, or used no later than 1:30pm. It is marked OPEN2, OPEN3, OPEN4, OPEN5 if it is used until 2pm, 3pm, 4pm, or 5pm, respectively. Will likely need some time to set up the room, but we CAN use the room if it is available at 5 because we open doors at 6pm, social networking until 7pm, and then program from 7pm to 9pm, and then final social networking from 9pm to 10pm. With experience, we may want to reduce rental time. Times marked with
HOL means it is not available due to holidays. Week "L" is the last week of the month of that day. If it is a new day, use upper case OPEN or NO for example. If it is actually the same day as the 4th day in the month, then it is lower case. Note, ballroom dancing club uses the ballroom on Sunday and Friday. Other groups consistently rent the ballroom from 6:30pm, and it is unclear how much sound conflict will occur.
