Canvassing Board: Citrus Supervisor of Elections, Susan Gill, County Commissioner, Ron Kitchen, and County Judge, The Honorable Mark J. Yerman
The area in which the canvassing board meets is quite small and there would not be room for a lot of observers. I was the only observer, so that was not a problem. Though Citrus County is not one of the targeted counties in Florida, it is my home county. The small setting allowed good video capture.
Explanation of Rules
Final Certification of Primary Election Results
Random Selection for Post Election Audit
A review of the Code of Election Report and signoff was the first event in this video. The Broward County snafu that affected the entire state was discussed. The random selection process is explained very well by the Operations Manager, Maureen Baird.
Post Election Audit
Reading of Observer Rules
Observation of Audit Teams
The Citrus group was very accommodating and relaxed their videotaping restrictions, but did keep me at a distance with the camera. I could have zoomed in, but wanted to respect their wishes. The Manager of Operations allowed me to come into the counting area and showed me what they were doing. They were separated into three teams of two for early ballots, mail-ins, and election day. If exceptions to the count occurred, a different team recounted. I think you could categorize their method sort and stack. The teams were made up of poll workers.
The audit numbers corresponded with the certified results. A review and revision of the Conduct of Elections follows.
