San Diego, CA --- Citizens' Oversight has issued a formal request to the Department of Justice (DOJ) to address pressing concerns about election security stemming from the 2024 presidential election. The request highlights documented vulnerabilities, including stolen election machines and software breaches, and seeks immediate action to ensure public confidence in the integrity of this election.

In addition to investigating the current election, the request urges broader reforms to fix systemic delays and weaknesses in election oversight.

"We're focused on protecting the integrity of the 2024 election while also repairing a broken oversight system," said Ray Lutz, Executive Director of Citizens Oversight. "The current system is too slow, leaving cases unresolved years after the fact, and it relies on challenges that courts can block due to procedural barriers or insufficient up-front proof. This request to the DOJ is about addressing today's concerns and prompting a larger conversation about how election oversight can be made more proactive, transparent, and responsive to public concerns---not just to the interests of campaigns."

Key recommendations in the request include:

• Investigating reports of stolen election infrastructure and potential tampering.
• Conducting recounts and physical audits in critical swing states, such as Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.
• Verifying that reported votes are backed by actual ballots and eligible voters.
• Addressing statistical anomalies, including unexplained drop-offs between presidential and down-ballot contests.
• Publishing public findings to maintain transparency and restore trust in the democratic process.

The 2024 election has raised new questions about vulnerabilities in the voting system. Stolen proprietary software and reported breaches threaten the confidence of millions of voters. Investigating these issues and implementing real-time oversight solutions is essential to ensure that elections reflect the will of the people.

"The public deserves answers now, not years down the line," added Lutz. "Election integrity is the foundation of democracy, and we must act swiftly to secure it." The request to the DOJ acknowledges the responsibility for election oversight placed within the authority of the DOJ while pushing for routine oversight on a time-sensitive basis.
