John Anthony Rinaldi was born in Fairfax, Virginia, the third child of Hazel and Chuck Rinaldi. Throughout his childhood, John's parents instilled the strong values of patriotism and service to God and country, believing as many who lived during John F. Kennedy's presidency that we must ask what we can do for our country, not what our country can do for us. John graduated with a Bachelors degree in Philosophy and Political Science from Mount Saint Mary's University in Emmitsburg, Maryland. During and after college, he served as a sworn city police officer in Ocean City, Maryland.
John then began graduate theological studies in order to become an ordained minister. During Desert Storm, John served as a commissioned officer in the United States Naval Reserve and came to San Diego, California for Chaplain Training. During times of war, there is always a pressing need for ministry to marines in boot camp and John was asked to extend his duty. John received the Navy Achievement Medal.
Upon completion of his service in San Diego, John returned to police work and became a teacher in West Virginia where he taught high school. During this time, he completed his Master studies in Divinity in preparation for ordination.
John returned to San Diego in 1993, and has made San Diego his permanent home. Here, John served his church as full time minister for five years and then as an associate minister while pursing business interests.
John has extensive experience in financial services. John worked as a stock broker and became a principal of his brokerage. John's other experience includes working as an investment banker, as a mortgage banker, and as a real estate agent. He is currently part owner of the San Diego branch of Silver Linings Mortgage. John enjoyed great success in real estate and worked tirelessly to help many people who would traditionally be excluded from purchasing real estate find homes. Along the way, John earned a Masters of Theology from the University of San Diego focused on ethics in government and business, and he is currently finishing his dissertation in the Doctoral program at the University of San Diego in leadership studies, again with a focus on ethics in politics and business.
John has many personal interests, including hiking and camping. He is an avid motorcycle rider and a pilot.
