Day, a Republican, is a past chairman of the San Diego County Planning Commission and a board member of the Downtown San Diego Partnership.
“I’m familiar with the agricultural community and its importance to the county’s economy,” said Day, of Alpine.
Before being hired by the Sycuan Band in 2002, Day worked for two public relations firms, NCG Porter Novelli and the Flannery Group.
During the 1990s, he worked for three members of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors. He was a policy adviser to Supervisor George Bailey and later became deputy chief of staff for Supervisor Greg Cox and chief of staff from 1996-99 for Supervisor Diane Jacob. In 1990, he was a legislative assistant to U.S. Sen. Pete Wilson.
