Are there appropriate places to build training camps, perhaps on existing or closed (and already ruined) military camps?
Pursuant to assignment, I have been trying, unsuccessfully, to contact the appropriate personnel at Camp Pendleton.
My telephone message was not answered. I will continue in the attempt.
My research on Warner Springs SERE school area as a possible consideration, revealed that the Naval School of Survival, Evasion,Resistance and Escape (SERE), ( a school I attended prior to deployment to Vietnam), is in fact located on land owned by the U.S. Forest Service. What problem that might present to the accommodation of a mercenary training facility is unknown. My phone call to the Naval Facilities Engineering Command Southwest, listed as a point of contact regarding Warner Springs, revealed that the individual responsible was out of the office until July 3rd. I left a message and phone number along with a brief explanation of my purpose.
That this location would be ideal for mercenary training seems beyond question since it is remote and already dedicated to training which must beconsidered at least tangential to the existing syllabus of the mercenary organization.
In line with the above, I have contacted the Office of Public Affairs at Naval Base Coronado which has administrative control over the Warner Springs School. The PAO has agreed to address my questions to the appropriate individual or to steer me in the right direction to get my answers. He is trying to meet our 7/7/07 date for the next meeting.
It is likewise beyond question that Camp Pendleton would be an ideal location due to its proximity and extensive land area. Whether a civilian organization could legally be situated at either Naval Facility is, I'm sure, beyond the capacity of the local command to decide. It would have to originate in the Defense Department.
I may well be on a fool's errand since in order to proceed further up the chain of command, I would be acting as an agent for the Blackwater group, a task I will not undertake.
I will update as necessary. T. A. Comeau
It looks like there ARE other locations for such camps, contrary to the representations made by Blackwater.
