Jerry Sanders
From Blog of San Diego:
GERALD R. SANDERS is Mayor of the City of San Diego. Since 2004, Mr. Sanders has been a partner in Willows Creek Partners, LLC, a homeland security advisory firm.
From Willows Creek Partners, LLC site:
Jerry Sanders, Managing Partner
Homeland Security Programs [Inactive]Jerry Sanders retired as Chief of Police of the San Diego Police Department after a 26 year career with the department. He was Chief from 1993 until his retirement in 1999. During his tenure the department adopted a community policing approach and with active assistance from the community achieved a significant decrease in all crime (nearly 49%) over a six year period. Sanders spent time as the Police Academy Director, SWAT Commander and served in every area of the community during his career. .
Sanders was the president and CEO of the United Way of San Diego County after leaving the police department. United Way dramatically increased fundraising and decreased overhead costs during his three years there. He served as the Community Campaign Chair (a volunteer role) after leaving in 2002.
Sanders has been very involved in community based non-profits over the last ten years. He is currently the board chair for the San Diego and Imperial Counties American Red Cross and for the San Diego Police Foundation. He also serves on the board of STAR/PAL and the San Diego Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Sanders serves on the Wells Fargo Community Bank Board, San Diego Gas and Electric's Community Advisory Board and Coronado First Bank's Board of Directors.
Some examples are: a past director of a six billion dollar USAID program, later called upon to be a managing director of one of the earliest investment companies in China; a respected Wall Street research analyst and senior member of a investment banking group, with long term and vital experience in India; a senior investor and businessman who continues to manage important projects and continues to maintain very high level relationships throughout Latin America; direct management of a sensor network regional homeland security project at the behest of a National Laboratory: a team of consultants who were called in to crises situations---such as a United Way scandal and Red Cross major transformation effort---which both resulted in remarkable turn-a-rounds; and a court-ordered intervention into a Board-CEO control dispute that threatened an important provider of crypto-analytical and multi-level security services and infrastructure to the government. This particular effort resulted in a makeover of the company and a strengthening of both their management and balance sheet.
A. [[http://www.signonsandiego.com/uniontrib/20050705/news_1m5sanders.html][UT article dated July 5, 2005]] states that in 1976, while a duty officer in the police force, Sanders was suspended for 10 days for leading the CHP on a chase while intoxicated in his Porsche. He was never charged. So why would he train, as Police Chief, for police officers to shoot to kill given the same scenario? And I guess he's really into mercenary forces because he never served in the military. Do a quick Google search for him with SWAT and check out what toys he's bought with federal grants. Throw the bum out! San Diego needs a Democratic mayor...
