This is the 100th anniversary of the San Diego Free Speech Fight, when city council prohibited soapbox oration centered at Fifth and E streets in the Stingaree District (Gaslamp). Prosecutors charged those arrested on felony charges of conspiracy, and police brutality was common. The Free Speech League sought to bring the cases up to jury trials to clog the system. There were an estimated 5,000 involved in one protest, with 41 arrested. The views of the Free Speech movement were similar to Occupy, on the wealth divide, worker’s rights and later on, First Amendment rights. The circumstances of the movement are echoed today. Consented to by GA yesterday: New process for counting 9/10s consensus. After third failed attempt at consensus, a 9/10s vote will be held in which the vote will be counted as in favor of vs opposed to a proposal. In this case opposed to is not as weighty as a block, you can vote no if you just don't like something. Abstentions will not be counted but will be part of the quorum. If there is a percentage of a vote that is not a whole number it will be rounded to the next closest whole number. Thank you all for helping to shape this proposal, it went through GA super smoothly so I feel that it's a good one.
At Strategic Planning Meeting Committee on Wednesday, 1/18/2012 at 5:30 we discussed and or consensused to the following:
We've decided on the Centro for 2/4 and that the main times should be from 12-6pm on that day, but allow some other efforts to go before and after, if there is that much response, including maybe some music later into the night.

- What to say to cops if you're busted. What you say and do can hurt you in court -- This is what I advise my clients to say when confronted by a law enforcement officer: "Officer, please understand I refuse to talk with you until I consult with my attorney. I also refuse to consent to any search of these premises or any other premises under my control, or in which I have a possessory, proprietary, or privacy interest, including my car, my body, or effects. I hereby demand to immediately be allowed the reasonable opportunity to obtain the advice of my attorney by telephone. from: http://layon.net/busted.php
- To check if someone is in jail check this website: http://apps.sdsheriff.net/wij/wij.aspx
- It usually takes about 6 hours for someone who has been arrested to pop up here. This site will tell you their charges, bail, etc. Jail's number is (619) 615-2700. The jail won't tell you much if anything that is not on the website. Please check this website before saying someone is in or out of jail to avoid confusion.

Note from Ray: I'm still sick with some sort of strange congestion in my lungs. Not the normal sore throat "cold" but gurgling and intense coughing in a mucus war. Went to the doctor today and got a course of antibiotics. Hopefully tonight will be easier.
