OSD Forks
- There are two groups meeting which are forks from the original OSD.
- Freedom Plaza had a good turnout at the recent GA on Saturday, 47 people, a bit increase from last weeks 8-10 people.
- Childrens Park has had a consistently larger group of about 40 people or more. Had 50 attendees on Feb 28.
- This MIC CHECK email blast does not play favorites and will try to provide information on both forks, and other non OSD events too.
- Please check meeting locations carefully as previous information may be incorrect.
- See message from "Anonymous" here: http://pastebin.com/mSyPTXqg
Occupy Walk
They are still here and everything is going great. the hemet dem club helped with food, they have enough to eat. they will be staying again tonight and off to Beaumont tomorrow. i was glad i was able to give them shelter.
San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS)
- Event has been endorsed by the SD Sierra Club ConsCom.
- Press Release on M11 San Onofre Protest sent to media and all lists Monday, Feb 20.
- A woman and a man from Fukushima have been confirmed for this event. This will make it extremely newsworthy -- you don't get visitors from Japan to tell their story very often.
- Mimi Kennedy, supporting actress in Academy Award nominee "Midnight in Paris" will be keynoting.
- Met with San Onofre State Park rangers and SONGS security. Rally site will be about 1/4 mile from the secure area of the plant, but it will be in full view. Rangers and security officers were very cooperative and helpful so far.
- Fliers and posters are in hand! Please email osd-feedback@citizensoversight.org if you can help distribute flyers and put up posters.
Legal Hearings, etc.
- Curtis Williams, aka Hex -- Jury said: Not guilty for blocking traffic and mistrial for delaying police officer! YEA! We win!!
- Adriane Bracciale says: -- Attention everyone who was at the Port Shut-down and anyone who knows someone who does, please contact Curtis Williams's lawyer Laura Sheppard if you saw Curtis Williams get arrested: lrsheppardlaw@gmail.com. His trial resulted in a hung jury today, 9:3 Guilty:NG, and the City Attorney gets another chance to try for a conviction with a new trial. The jury was not swayed by his defense witnesses because no one saw the moments leading up to the arrest or the initial detention itself. I know these witnesses exist. They just need to come forward. If anyone can make this announcement at the GA, it would be greatly appreciated.
- Benjamin Gasper's trial has been postponed to allow the defense to respond to new evidence brought forth by the prosecution. The newest court date is March 19th at 9:30 in department 50.
- Fish's trial will be on March 22nd.

- SD college students stage walkout to protest cuts Students at San Diego's three major public colleges walked out of classes Thursday morning as part of what is billed as a nationwide rally against cuts in education funding. The National Day of Action to Defend the Right to Education is being coordinated by the Occupy Education movement.
- OWS Protesters Hold "Reboot" Rally in New York Hundreds of people gathered in New York’s Union Square Wednesday night for what organizers dubbed a "reboot" of the Occupy Wall Street movement for social and economic change. Occupy protests have lagged over the past two months amid the cold winter weather and a series of raids targeting encampments nationwide. Protesters said they hoped for a rejuvenated movement with the approaching spring.
- Super PAC Campaign Spending Bashed, Defended Since the Supreme Court ruled in a case called "Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission", Super PAC spending has exploded to remarkable levels over that of the more limited, pre-ruling Political Action Committees.
- Dozens arrested at occupy corporations On Wednesday dozens gathered in New York City to protest the influence money and corporations have on US politics. The occupiers gathered outside several banks and chanted slogans condemning US corporations influence on the US government. All across the nation people coordinated similar protests and over a dozen people were arrested in the largest coordinated effort since the fall.
- Ben & Jerry's Donates to Occupy Wall Street Ice cream makers Ben & Jerry's are putting their hat in the Occupy Wall Street ring again. A new organization, Movement Resource Group, led by Ben & Jerry's Ben Cohen and former Nirvana manager Danny Goldberg, is raising money to pump life back into the populist movement. As of now, the Wall Street Journal reports that they've raised up to $300,000 with a goal of $1.8 million.
- Occupy Wall Street Gets Fat Ben & Jerry's Cash Infusion Representatives from the group met with Occupy Wall Street members on Sunday, and announced the plan to approve national grants of up to $25,000 with the approval of MRG and five OWS members. $150,000 will pay for a national office in New York, another $100,000 will pay for individual, targeted projects, and a smaller, undisclosed sum will be set aside for stipends for "core activists."
Today's action is a rally in Union Square against police suppression of the movement. Rev. Stephen Phelps, civil rights attorney Norman Siegel, and musician Peter Yarrow will gather with activists in the north plaza of the park for a 5 p.m. rally before marching at 6 p.m.
Tomorrow, more than 70 cities will participate in efforts to "Shut Down Corporations." (If you have an issue with OWS attempting to shut down some corporations while taking money from others, get in line.)
Here in New York, demonstrations will begin at the Koch Industries building and the Pulitzer Fountain at 9 a.m., a march from Tudor City to Bryant Park at 10 a.m., and a Bank of America Teach-In with Rolling Stone reporter and "vampire squid"-coiner Matt Taibbi at 11 a.m. in Bryant Park. At noon, there will be an attempt to "shut down Bank of America branches, ending at B of A tower," which is right across the street from the park. More details are here and here.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
See
All Occupy San Diego Announcements to read all previous announcements about
- Where we meet, how to recover confiscated property from the San Diego Police Department, information for people were arrested, etc.
LEGAL
POLICE COMPLAINTS
- OSD speaks at the Citizens Review Board of Police Practices on 1/24
Have you been mistreated by the Police? Have your First Amendment rights been violated? Have you been arrested for nothing, only to have the charges "unfiled" but held over your head for up to a year?
- First read this document: http://www.2momslaw.com/police_misconduct.pdf
- Make a Complaint: How to Make a Police Complaint
- Use this form: Complaint Form
- Forms also available in the lobby of City Hall.
- Citizen's Review Board member says we do NOT need names & badge numbers. File the complaint & it's up to SDPD to determine who the officer was (But it is better if we have them, of course).
- ALSO: By telephone or in writing to
- SDPD Internal Affairs Unit, 1401 Broadway, MS 709, San Diego CA 92101, (619) 531-2801
- Complaints made to the Citizens Review Board do not necessarily make it into the officers' personnel files
- Read this: Making Police Compliants That Stick
- Also, consider making a CLAIM against the city for your BOND money if charges were never filed. They have 45 days to reject the claim, then you file a lawsuit. It costs $400 to file unless you can claim low income.
- TELL POLICE HOW THEY ARE DOING: Police host monthly meetings in the community to get feedback from community members.
Lutz suing Civic Center Plaza building owners and operators Project Details
- More on this project... Including collected media, documents, photos, videos, etc.
- This is a VERY IMPORTANT project because we will directly engage wall street firms who own and operate the Civic Center Plaza office building.
Legal Resources

- 1st Circuit Rules Public Has Right to Videotape Police
- What to say to cops if you're busted. What you say and do can hurt you in court -- This is what I advise my clients to say when confronted by a law enforcement officer: "Officer, please understand I refuse to talk with you until I consult with my attorney. I also refuse to consent to any search of these premises or any other premises under my control, or in which I have a possessory, proprietary, or privacy interest, including my car, my body, or effects. I hereby demand to immediately be allowed the reasonable opportunity to obtain the advice of my attorney by telephone. from: http://layon.net/busted.php
- To check if someone is in jail check this website: http://apps.sdsheriff.net/wij/wij.aspx
- It usually takes about 6 hours for someone who has been arrested to pop up here. This site will tell you their charges, bail, etc. Jail's number is (619) 615-2700. The jail won't tell you much if anything that is not on the website. Please check this website before saying someone is in or out of jail to avoid confusion.
- FYI -- Penal Code 849.5. In any case in which a person is arrested and released and no accusatory pleading is filed charging him with an offense, any record of arrest of the person shall include a record of release. Thereafter, the arrest shall not be deemed an arrest, but a detention only.
