  • Press Release on M11 San Onofre Protest sent to media and all lists Monday, Feb 20.

  • Mimi Kennedy, supporting actress in Academy Award nominee "Midnight in Paris" will be keynoting.
  • Met with San Onofre State Park rangers and SONGS security. Rally site will be about 1/4 mile from the secure area of the plant, but it will be in full view. Rangers and security officers were very cooperative and helpful so far.

    • Adriane Bracciale says: -- PLEASE contact Curtis Williams's lawyer Laura Sheppard if you saw Curtis Williams get arrested: lrsheppardlaw@gmail.com. His trial resulted in a hung jury, 9:3 Guilty:NG, and the City Attorney gets another chance to try for a conviction with a new trial. The jury was not swayed by his defense witnesses because no one saw the moments leading up to the arrest or the initial detention itself.
  • Benjamin Gasper's trial has been postponed to allow the defense to respond to new evidence brought forth by the prosecution. The newest court date is March 19th at 9:30 in department 50.

  • Bobby Uribe's trial starts 4/19. Need witnesses to Bobby Uribe's arrest at port protest.

Media

2012 Mar06

Media: Occupy San Diego

  • Bob McDonnell's Virginia On March 3, 2012, a group of peaceful protesters opposed to the Republican Party's War on Women were surrounded by riot police and dragged away under the guns of a SWAT team.

  • Pay Raises for City Council & Mayor Unanimously Rejected The proposed recommendations would have increased a councilmember’s salary from $75,386 to $175,000 and the mayor’s salary from $100,464 to $235,000 - effective on July 1, 2012 or 2013. Despite similar recommendations in previous years, the council has not approved a salary increase since 2003, although councilmember Carl De Maio pointed out that an increase was approved in May of 2008, but rescinded two days later after public outcry.

Media: Occupy National and Global

  • Inefficient Wall Street Wastes $280 Billion A Year Between 1980 and 2010, the U.S. financial industry nearly doubled in size, relative to the overall economy. Yet in terms of what the financial industry actually produces -- liquidity, assets, anything of measurable benefit to society -- the sector appears to be doing less these days than it used to.

  • Geithner arrested? 116 major bank resignations? What The Finance is this? Judge Napolitano testifies of Treasury Secretary and Federal Reserve-insider Timothy Geither’s arrest in this 4-minute corporate news show. American Kabuki lists the daily-increasing bank resignations. David Wilcock and Benjamin Fulford explain and document history and deceit at the top of US and global finance, leading to current and imminent arrests.

  • US Congress passes authoritarian anti-protest law A bill passed Monday in the US House of Representatives and Thursday in the Senate would make it a felony—a serious criminal offense punishable by lengthy terms of incarceration—to participate in many forms of protest associated with the Occupy Wall Street protests of last year. Several commentators have dubbed it the “anti-Occupy” law, but its implications are far broader.

  • Nov 14US Courts Helping Banks Screw Over Homeowners The foreclosure lawyers down in Jacksonville had warned me, but I was skeptical. They told me the state of Florida had created a special super-high-speed housing court with a specific mandate to rubber-stamp the legally dicey foreclosures by corporate mortgage pushers like Deutsche Bank and JP Morgan Chase

  • Romney on student debt: Join the military Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney on Monday told a high school senior not to expect any help from the government for college tuition unless he joined the military.

  • US Congress expands authoritarian anti-protest law A bill passed Monday in the US House of Representatives and Thursday in the Senate would expand existing anti-protest laws that make it a felony—a serious criminal offense punishable by a lengthy prison term—to “enter or remain in” an area designated as “restricted.”

POLICE COMPLAINTS

Have you been mistreated by the Police? Have your First Amendment rights been violated? Have you been arrested for nothing, only to have the charges "unfiled" but held over your head for up to a year?
  • NEW First read this document: http://www.2momslaw.com/police_misconduct.pdf
  • Make a Complaint: How to Make a Police Complaint
    • Use this form: Complaint Form
    • Forms also available in the lobby of City Hall.
    • Citizen's Review Board member says we do NOT need names & badge numbers. File the complaint & it's up to SDPD to determine who the officer was (But it is better if we have them, of course).
  • ALSO: By telephone or in writing to
    • SDPD Internal Affairs Unit, 1401 Broadway, MS 709, San Diego CA 92101, (619) 531-2801
    • Complaints made to the Citizens Review Board do not necessarily make it into the officers' personnel files
    • Read this: Making Police Compliants That Stick
  • Also, consider making a CLAIM against the city for your BOND money if charges were never filed. They have 45 days to reject the claim, then you file a lawsuit. It costs $400 to file unless you can claim low income.

  • NEW TELL POLICE HOW THEY ARE DOING: Police host monthly meetings in the community to get feedback from community members.

  • More on this project... Including collected media, documents, photos, videos, etc.
  • This is a VERY IMPORTANT project because we will directly engage wall street firms who own and operate the Civic Center Plaza office building.

What you say and do can hurt you in court -- This is what I advise my clients to say when confronted by a law enforcement officer: "Officer, please understand I refuse to talk with you until I consult with my attorney. I also refuse to consent to any search of these premises or any other premises under my control, or in which I have a possessory, proprietary, or privacy interest, including my car, my body, or effects. I hereby demand to immediately be allowed the reasonable opportunity to obtain the advice of my attorney by telephone. from: http://layon.net/busted.php
  • To check if someone is in jail check this website: http://apps.sdsheriff.net/wij/wij.aspx
    • It usually takes about 6 hours for someone who has been arrested to pop up here. This site will tell you their charges, bail, etc. Jail's number is (619) 615-2700. The jail won't tell you much if anything that is not on the website. Please check this website before saying someone is in or out of jail to avoid confusion.
