Brother Fish who is on trial for resisting arrest

Occupy Walk crossed this bridge into Arizona on Thursday

War Against Women Continues
  • Conservatives compete on how ridiculous they can get to withhold contraceptives, but when unwanted pregnancies occur, pregnancy termination is not an option.
  • Flag-waving "Christian" Tea Party leader in this area arrested for kidnapping and raping a woman, 56, on Fiesta Island.
  • Arizona representative wants women to have to witness an abortion before it can be an option.

Stop SONGS (San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station = SONGS)
  • Next anti-nuke rally slated for April 29 (Sun) to commemorate Chernobyl disaster of 1986-04-26. Can you help us make this event even larger than the last one? NOTE: Moved this event to the 29th to avoid conflict with women's rights event.
  • NEW New Facebook page: http://www.Facebook.com/ShutSongs <-- Please like it!
  • See post-event notes here: M11SanOnofreProtestAndRally
  • After the NRC completes their inspections, they will be having a PUBLIC MEETING! Time/date and location not announced yet. This is a all-hands-on-deck event that can be the end of SONGS. We have to be ready to deploy to this public meeting.
  • It's getting worse for SONGS... another 4 tubes blew in the next test. That means they have a serious problem and the reactors will not be restarted for at least months. WE CAN MAKE IT PERMANENT!

Legal Hearings, etc.
  • Fish's Trial: Continues Monday, 3/26 at 10:30am. We need a packed house! At least another 20 people need to show up!
    • What I understand about Fish's Arrest: During an early morning raid (2:20am), there were about 200 police officers in riot control gear and maybe 60 protestors. The police made a line to push people out of FreedomPlaza. One woman realized that her dog and dog food were left in the Civic Center, and so she walked from the corner at 3rd and C St. to the police line, which she attempted to cross so she could go get her dog. They stopped her and she became unruly since she did not want to lose her pet. Fish walked over to try to get the woman to back away so she would not get arrested. Fish pulled on the woman's arm. An officer thought he was going to hit him, he said, it was a matter of self defense, so he did a headlock takedown on Fish, and arrested him. The charge is resisting arrest, I believe.

  • Bobby Uribe's trial starts 4/19. Need witnesses to Bobby Uribe's arrest at port protest
  • Benjamin Gasper's trial: New Trial date has been set for May 29th.

  • Vermont senators blast the JOBS Act after Senate passes it “The so-called ‘JOBS Act’ is an extremely anti-consumer, anti-investor, and anti-jobs bill,” Sanders said in a statement. “As currently drafted, the bill is opposed by the Securities and Exchange Commission chairman (as well as past SEC chairmen appointed by both political parties); AARP; the AFL-CIO; the Consumer Federation of America; Consumers Union; and the Council of Institutional Investors, among many others. There is good reason for the opposition.”

  • 300,000 Quebec students protest tuition hike Tens of thousands of students protested Thursday against a 75 percent tuition hike at universities in Canada’s mostly French-speaking Quebec province, bringing downtown Montreal to a standstill.

  • Documents show NYPD infiltrated liberal groups Undercover NYPD officers attended meetings of liberal political organizations and kept intelligence files on activists who planned protests around the country, according to interviews and documents that show how police have used counterterrorism tactics to monitor even lawful activities.

  • Why tax reform still hasn't come to America Tax day is a little more than three weeks away. And while you're trying to determine what happens when you subtract line 35 from line 43 on your tax form, you might ask: Why is this so complicated? Isn't it time for some tax reform?

  • Ron Paul tops list of House members whose campaigns paid families $3.1 million Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) emerged this week atop a list of congressional representatives who’ve paid family members fees and salaries from their campaign war chests, congressional offices and political action committees, with one ethics advocacy group highlighting him for paying more of his relatives over the last two election cycles than any other member of the House.

  • The Dallas Fed Is Calling For The Immediate Breakup Of Large Banks It's hard not to think it's a big deal when a branch of the Federal Reserve system calls for the breakup of major American banks. The bank has just released its annual report, and the title of the letter is: Choosing the Road to Prosperity Why We Must End Too Big to Fail—Now.

WOSD at it again!

Another amazing Victory by Women Occupy's campaign against Rush Limbaugh advertisers!

Pam with WOSD has taken on the fight and done an amazing job, Bill Howe pulled his ads from Rush.

E-mail from Pam;

This is in response to an e-mail I wrote to Bill Howe's Marketing Director. BH sponsors traffic reports on KOGO, not on the RL show. Bottom line is that he is removing the traffic sponsorships that air during RL's show. So, another victory…"because it's the right thing to do". Whatever…it will no longer air on R's show.

Begin forwarded message:
'> Subject: Bill Howe Plumbing's Advertisement

Hello Pam,

Thank you for taking the time to write us. Bill Howe Plumbing does not currently sponsor any specific radio programs or on-air personalities. We do however sponsor traffic reports on KOGO AM as part of our commitment to the San Diego community, and these traffic reports run throughout the day during different programming. To put it simply, we are sponsoring a traffic report, not the program during which the traffic report runs. We believe strongly that these traffic reports contribute to the overall health and safety of our community and we will continue to sponsor them throughout the day to help keep San Diegans informed and safe.

That being said, Bill Howe has 5 daughters and 9 sisters, what Rush Limbaugh said did not go unnoticed by Bill. After all that Bill Howe has done to not only provide San Diegans with good service and quality work, but all of the generous contributions he has given to organizations around San Diego, he's disappointed that customers have threatened not to use our company based on an advertisement. We are removing the traffic sponsorships that air during Rush's show and have decided to do it because it's the right thing to do, not to appease one group or another.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to contact us.

Best,
Stefanie
