Occupy Walk
San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS)
- Had a great turnout -- about 300 people, which was about all the cleared area could hold. Guests from Fukushima area of Japan were well covered by media, and we had a great lineup of speakers. The whole event ended pretty much on time.
- Video will up uploaded soon. Thank you to Jason Snyder for livestreaming (and Chris McKay/Fish too, right?)
- Thank you especially to Marcia Patt for coordinating the bus transportation to the event, Carol Jahnkow and the Peace Resource Center for underwriting it, and Gene Stone of San Clemente for arranging for the Japanese visitors, directional signs, and native American blessings.
- Park Rangers and Law Enforcement, thank you too, even though the number of officers on duty was far more than necessary, as usual. (Yes, I know you read this too.)

- Hundreds Rally to Remember Fukushima, Protest San Onofre Hundreds of protesters converged near the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station today to commemorate the one-year anniversary of Japan’s Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster. Reactors there remain in a state of continuing high-level meltdown.
- Rally at San Onofre nuclear power plant draws hundreds More than 200 activists held a peaceful rally Sunday outside the gates of the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station to commemorate the anniversary of the damage at Japan’s Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant from a magnitude-9 earthquake, and to raise awareness about nuclear power in California.
- Anti-Nuke Rally at San Onofre Commemorating Fukushima Largest In Years Hundreds rallied in front of the San Onofre nuclear reactors on Sunday, March 11th, in commemoration of the disaster exactly one year ago at the Fukushima plant in Japan. And two speakers from Japan addressed the crowd and expressed appreciation for Americans’ solidarity during the warm afternoon near a cliff just off the Pacific.
- Occupy Wall Street:“I felt like I had been arrested for a thought crime” Protesters arrested while blocks away from the protests. Their charges were thrown out. But it is important to recognize the impact such spurious arrests have on peoples perception of freedom to assemble and petition their government for a redress of grievances. Who wants to risk arrest for not only attending a protest but for simply planning to attend? In making this arrest the police have shown they are not interested in maintaining order but in the suppression of dissent.
- NYPD intimidation of #OWS and the architecture of NYC surveillance A number of Occupy Wall Street protesters are planning to sue the NYPD for what they are calling pre-emptive arrests based on "thought crimes." The activists say that the NYPD has placed them under surveillance at their homes and work spaces, and that the police have arrested them without cause and asked inappropriate questions about their political activity.

- (1pm) Outside City Council 202 C Street -- The Mayor and his rich downtown cronies are at it once again, pushing a new deal at the 11th hour to give rich hoteliers the keys to the Convention Center and let them loot it for their own profit. If the Mayor and his allies pull this off, it's a direct threat to hundreds of union jobs at the Convention Center and will stifle the voices of all the workers who have a direct interest in the Convention Center. The City Council has a chance to stop this brazen giveaway, and we're going to make sure they hear from the taxpayers who may be on the hook for the giant bill while the profits go to hoteliers. Add your voice!

Chaplain Ron Dismuke was assaulted Monday morning from a man in the Little Italy area, and so he called 9-1-1. Here is what he says:
Yes,I was jumped by a clean-cut white man this morning in a part of San Diego where most people earn $300k/yr. SDPD asked me, "So Chaplain Ron, what do you want SDPD to do?" -- "Go find him and make the streets safe for us citizens," I said. SDPD asked if the crime was done by a black man, a homeless man or a Mexican. I told him it was done by a "NON OCCUPY PERSON" why? because I have never had any fear around MY OCCUPY FAMILY. "They happen to LOVE me," I said. SDPD asked if this was a REAL person that hit me, since no one else saw the attack. "Why would someone come up and hit you, did you do something to provoke them, SDPD asked. "I was walking over to church to meet a friend at mass and this person ran up and raised his hand, I covered my head and he hit my arm and ran off. I pressed 911 [on my cell phone] and he came at me again. I put my hands up as he ran by me the 2nd time. This was a real attack at 9:40 AM on Ceder St. in LITTLE ITALY where for the last 5 years I have had no fear of walking. The SDPD could have shown some mercy but they seemed to doubt me since no one saw it. God saw it, besides why would I file a false report and get myself in trouble. I don't need that kind of attention. I just want the person who hit me brought to justice so I can have peace. I want SDPD to carry out Article 1 Section 28. I want to be treated with fairness and respect by the law. I want to be reasonably protected. As citizens that's what we pay the law for. Keep LOVE as the RULE IN YOUR HEART and in so doing you will have victory. Thank you for the love you so freely give to my dear wife and I. You have my love with you always.
Chaplain Ron

LEGAL
POLICE COMPLAINTS
- OSD speaks at the Citizens Review Board of Police Practices on 1/24
Have you been mistreated by the Police? Have your First Amendment rights been violated? Have you been arrested for nothing, only to have the charges "unfiled" but held over your head for up to a year?
- First read this document: http://www.2momslaw.com/police_misconduct.pdf
- Make a Complaint: How to Make a Police Complaint
- Use this form: Complaint Form
- Forms also available in the lobby of City Hall.
- Citizen's Review Board member says we do NOT need names & badge numbers. File the complaint & it's up to SDPD to determine who the officer was (But it is better if we have them, of course).
- ALSO: By telephone or in writing to
- SDPD Internal Affairs Unit, 1401 Broadway, MS 709, San Diego CA 92101, (619) 531-2801
- Complaints made to the Citizens Review Board do not necessarily make it into the officers' personnel files
- Read this: Making Police Compliants That Stick
- Also, consider making a CLAIM against the city for your BOND money if charges were never filed. They have 45 days to reject the claim, then you file a lawsuit. It costs $400 to file unless you can claim low income.
- TELL POLICE HOW THEY ARE DOING: Police host monthly meetings in the community to get feedback from community members.
Lutz suing Civic Center Plaza building owners and operators Project Details
- More on this project... Including collected media, documents, photos, videos, etc.
- This is a VERY IMPORTANT project because we will directly engage wall street firms who own and operate the Civic Center Plaza office building.

- What to say to cops if you're busted. What you say and do can hurt you in court -- This is what I advise my clients to say when confronted by a law enforcement officer: "Officer, please understand I refuse to talk with you until I consult with my attorney. I also refuse to consent to any search of these premises or any other premises under my control, or in which I have a possessory, proprietary, or privacy interest, including my car, my body, or effects. I hereby demand to immediately be allowed the reasonable opportunity to obtain the advice of my attorney by telephone. from: http://layon.net/busted.php
- To check if someone is in jail check this website: http://apps.sdsheriff.net/wij/wij.aspx
- It usually takes about 6 hours for someone who has been arrested to pop up here. This site will tell you their charges, bail, etc. Jail's number is (619) 615-2700. The jail won't tell you much if anything that is not on the website. Please check this website before saying someone is in or out of jail to avoid confusion.
- FYI -- Penal Code 849.5. In any case in which a person is arrested and released and no accusatory pleading is filed charging him with an offense, any record of arrest of the person shall include a record of release. Thereafter, the arrest shall not be deemed an arrest, but a detention only.
